If TANDBERG financials for the 2Q 2008 are any indication, the video market is certainly on a tear despite claims of market softness elsewhere.

TANDBERG reported 22% more endpoints shipped in last quarter as compared to year before and doubled infrastructure revenues. Positioning itself well to sustain this pace, the company announced four new products this quarter too:

  • T1 – Personal Telepresence
  • Codec C90 – telepresence processing engine that delivers 1080p
  • E20 Video over IP phone
  • MSE 8510 Media2 blade – enabling 180 concurrent HD video calls for the MSE 8500 carrier-class MCU.

Also announced was a new alliance – Barco to deliver a tele-collaboration system, and HP alliance was upgraded.

Just in – LifeSize revenues for the 1H08 grew 180% over the year before! Amazing performance.

I  missed this before, but on July 16, Polycom reported video division revenue increase of 25% y/y and for the first time, HD and telepresence surpassed revenues of Standard Definition. Growth outside the USA was particularly strong. Network equipment declined, but is expected to reverse with new releases for HD in 3Q08.
