According to TIA, the total market is $174.7 billion with the fastest growing segment being the $15 billion handset market, which is expected to grow at 19.3% for 2006.

Several other milestones were reviewed in the report,

• 25 million new subscribers are enjoying mobile service for the first time – the largest increase ever.
• growth will average 8.2% through 2009 to a max of 278.5 million subscribers
• new uses of mobile devices are attracting new users, or multiple devices for users (Europe has more devices than people).
