VoIP Provider availability and audio quality lag PSTN.

150,000 automated calls made on VoIP to PSTN connections conducted by Keynote Systems in May and June 2005 were analyzed using industry standard measures for audio quality. Stephen Lawson writes in the July 18, 2005 edition of Network World.

Results:

  • Vonage was first in availability.
  • AT&T CallVantage ranked first in audio clarity.

Other VPs tested include 8×8, Primus, Skype and Verizon.
