Earlier today, 3Com announced it is a founding/charter member of the VoIP Security Alliance , an association of 25 vendors, government agencies, carriers, labs, universities and systems integrators (to start) that are focused on education, defining best practices and new technologies with respect to IP Telephony.

This really is a great initiative, costs nothing to join, and delivers access to a 'fuzzer' for vulnerability testing. Clearly, consistent with the impact of open source initiatives, collaborative tackling of such a sophisticated challenge assures a broad market-enhancing initiative compared to vendor-specific.
