Well, today I'm heading to Florida for…

… the annual pilgrimage to Voicecon, the enterprise telecom industry's (is that an official industry name) festival of technology, pundits, opinions, vendors and large enterprise users. Here're my PowerPoints for the IP Telephony security section.

Security in PBX world has never been like security in the Convergence world.

That's because in PBXs, all you had to do was provide physical security, there was no logical layer in the environment, and so with strong physical security, you've met all the requirements.

In real world Convergence networks, there is a huge need for authentication services, segmentation for security and performance, privacy in extreme environment cases such as WiFi or Internet-attached IP phones. Best network security practices, are best IP Telephony security practices.
