Softphones are experiencing a rebirth, both in PC environments and especially for PDAs in WiFi environments. This panel explores the advantages and issues associated with softphones.
- Is mobility with a softphone harder to handle with other devices?
- What issues about voice quality are there for PDAs?
- Which sorts of VoIP mobility applications are soft clients best suited for?

The tack I took on the effort was to focus on the fundamental issues. Convergence is the driver: convergence of networks, applications and domains. But to be useful, the user must be the focal point of the industry. Here, I went out of my way to identify the competencies required to deliver mobility clients that are capable of the applications enterprises need.
